NATALIA SOLZHENITSYN UNVEILING ALEXANDER SOLZHENITSYN ARCHIVES

New York, NY, May 29, 2012—Natalia Solzhenitsyn will present, for the first time, the Alexander Solzhenitsyn Archive at BookExpo America (BEA), where Russia is BEA’s 2012 guest of honor. Russia’s 4,000-square-foot BEA exhibition space at the Javits Center will host presentations on the Russian book market, Russian literature in translation, and new works by Russian writers.

On June 5th at 10 am, Ms. Solzhenitsyn, who heads up the Solzhenitsyn Foundation, will unveil and discuss the Alexander Solzhenitsyn Archive. Ms. Solzhenitsyn has also edited the collected works of her late husband, the Nobel laureate in literature, and serves on the jury of the Solzhenitsyn Prize, awarded annually to recognize writers living in Russia.

Also on Tuesday, June 5, at 10:30 am, there will be a panel discussion with leading Russian and American archivists and historians on the new Stalin Digital Archive titled, “Russia in Search of Itself. Rethinking History. Soviet Archives from Secrecy to Openness.”

The events at the BEA are part of Read Russia 2012, the largest and most complete program promoting Russian literature and culture ever organized in the United States. From June 2 to June 7, there will be events around New York that are free and open to the public and offer readers opportunities to meet and engage with a new generation of Russian literary leaders and newsmakers.
